River Flows In You — Yiruma
Chamil Jay
River Flows In You by Yiruma is one of my favourite piano pieces. I have been playing it for some time now, and it never fails to bring a sense of calm and stillness. The melody is deceptively simple yet deeply expressive.
Recording Setup

For the recording, I used a matched pair of RØDE NT5 condenser microphones routed through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. The two microphones were positioned to capture the piano in stereo, providing a balanced sense of width while preserving the natural character and dynamics of the instrument. I kept the signal chain deliberately clean and largely uncoloured, avoiding heavy processing or tonal shaping during recording. In post-production, I added only a subtle amount of reverb to create a little more space around the piano, giving the recording a more open, natural and room-like feel without making the effect overly noticeable.
